Paneer Tikka Kebab aka Cottage Cheese Tikka Kabab

Recipe Quick Steps

Step1: Make the Marinade

In a mixing bowl mix together, yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, ginger garlic paste, corn starch and salt to make a nice marinade paste.

Step2: Apply marinade to Paneer(cheese)/Tofu:

To the marinade add paneer/tofu cubes and coat them well with the marinade from all sides.

Step3: Bake the Marinated Paneer(cheese):

Thread the paneer/tofu cubes to oven safe metal skewers. Rest the skewers on the bake ware edges. Brush the paneer/tofu pieces with oil and put in the oven for broiling on high setting for 10 minutes.

Step4: Serve Paneer/Cheese Tikka Kabab:

Remove paneer/tofu from the oven and let them cool, then slide the paneer off the skewers without breaking them. Now cut each cube diagonally into two parts each. Dribble a little bit of lime juice on top of the paneer/tofu. Serve hot.

Ingredients

Serves 4

    • 2 tablespoon yogurt
    • 1/8 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • red chili powder to taste
    • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
    • ½ teaspoon ginger and garlic paste
    • 1 teaspoon corn starch/corn flour powder
    • Salt to taste
    • ½ lbs paneer (Indian cottage cheese) or Extra firm tofu, 2 inch cubed
    • ½ lime juice, freshly squeezed

Prepare it

1Put the oven on Broil for high setting.

2 Make Marinade: In a mixing bowl mix together, yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, ginger garlic paste, corn starch and salt to form a nice marinade paste.

3To the marinade add paneer/tofu cubes and coat them well with the marinade from all sides.

4Line a rectangular bake ware with foil. Thread the paneer/tofu cubes to oven safe metal skewers. Rest the skewers on the bake ware edges. Brush the paneer/tofu pieces with oil and put in the oven for broiling on high setting for 10 minutes.

5Remove from the oven and let them cool. Now slide the paneer of the skewers, taking care not to break them.

6Now cut each large cube diagonally such that you get two triangular shaped tikkas out of one cube.

7Put the paneer tikka pieces on serving plate and dribble a little bit of lime juice from top. Serve hot.

Tip

You can also use extra firm tofu instead of the Indian cottage cheese in this recipe. You can also use previously soaked wooden skewers to thread the the cheese in this recipe.
